A power steering problem will obviously make it difficult to steer, but it helps to check the power steering fluid level to verify the problem. Find out how power steering fluid can oxidize and become defective with help from an automotive technology professor in this free video on power steering problems.

I have a 1990 Honda Accord I recently installed a new powersteering pump and my car is still having problems. Sometimes it will be so hard to turn but other times it will be super easy like its working. And sometimes half of the turn will be difficult and after a certain point it will turn really quickly. Also since I got a new pump I don't hear the whining as much but only when it turns and its not every time I turn but sometimes.

When you filled it up, did you move the wheel left to right and then fill some more? This ensures its completely full and void of air bubbles.

Great video very informative!! I have a 97 taurus that gets louder as I pick up speed and is hard to steer to the left and pulls to the right. I think it's the p/s pump thats causing this.
