I've recently discovered an animation that was rendered using the measured redshift of all 10,000 galaxies in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field image.

I've written a short script that leads you through a quick history of both deep field images and this video ends with a fly-through of the Ultra Deep Field.

Every galaxy in the image is in its proper distance as viewed from the telescope line of sight.

As if this image wasn't amazing enough.

(Continued from initial comment) And as you mentioned: we could use what was previously war technology as a means of salvation instead. Looks like you do have some optimism after all.

I'm usually a glass half full person and the most optimistic if you ask those who know me, but i am a realist and tell it like it is with no sugar coating. Honestly unless you're talking generations upon generations from now of our people then we won't even begin to even scratch the surface buddy. Sorry just how it is. One thing we have perfected though is war so should a comet per say head our way then for sure the war lords around the world have enough nukes to stop the extinction of mankind

Thank you Tony for this video. Thank you NASA for Hubble. Thank you American people for placing this telescope in space and bringing its images back for all of humanity.

No one knows 'absolute' truth. That's why mysteries are so compelling. That is why science was born. We don't give up when it seems the problem is unsolvable - no, exactly the opposite, friend. If we don't work on these seemingly insuperable challenges, (like the ultra-powerful telescope you described) they'll never come to fruition, especially if we fill in the gaps of our knowledge and say that God did it, and just leave ourselves content with that answer (which isn't an answer at all, really.)
