    Peak oil theory states that oil will have a beginning, middle, and an end of production, and at some point it will reach a level of maximum output. It is estimated that approximately half of all oil that will be recovered, has been recovered, and oil production may reach a peak in the near future, or perhaps already has. Then what?     I don't understand why this guy is so pessimistic. There's over a trillion barrels of oil in the Alberta tar sand and over another trillion in Venezuela's tar sands(unfortunately). Plus there's a technology called coal gasification. Sure, they are all expensive but not outrageously expensive. The only problem is that were not building coal gasification plants except for China.
