The Monday Morning Mechanic shows what can happen when you rock a car back and forth to free your stuck car: broken engine mounts, stripped wiring, and even transmission problems. Luckily, there's still plenty that you can do before you have to call AAA or a tow truck, and the Monday Morning Mechanic shows you how to free your trapped vehicle without damaging it.

My wife gets stuck all the time...My first 4 years in the Marines I was in Motor T they teach you how to drive in deep sand, mud, water and snow without getting stuck.....and the prinipals are basic common sense...she pisses me off to no end every time she gets stuck....it's the same thing every winter. She's lived in Upstate NY for 43 years you would think by now it would of sunk in but NOOOOOO typical woman never learns.

or...... you could carry a couple of good old sandbags, for three reasons: 1- for weight in rear= traction, 2- you can use the sand for grip, 3- you can also drive up onto the sandbags instead of driving into the same mess you got yourself into in the first place!!!!!

He's talking about all kinds of worn parts, from rocking back-n-forth, in your vehicle, in the snow. But as a Certified Honda Mechanic for the past 17 years at a local Honda dealership, I have never seen any of the parts he pinpointed, going bad from winter driving. --Trying to get out of a little snow These problems may be common with Ford, Chevy & Chrysler vehciles, but they are virtually non-existant with Toyota or Honda Buy a Honda or Toyota, and you won't have these problems
