actually, there have been many other countries that have landed a man on the moon. America is credited with being the first country to land a man on the moon.
The reason why you saw it happen above your head in the sky is because @ 200,000 feet in the air, anyone in the west/mid-west would've seen that happen above them- at that height [plus our atmosphere], things seem to be right over us. That's the craziness of our atmosphere and how it augments our vision.
Wait Wait Wait! I haven't paid too much attention about this until today, I was listening to the narrator and he was saying they lost communication in north central Texas area, and that is where is believe it started to disintegrate? Hmmm that is weird because I live in Santa Rosa, CA, 60 miles north of San Francisco and I clearly remember it was around 5 AM here when I saw it. It seem like tree objects were catched on fire, a big one and two smaller ones behind the bigger one.
Getting there would be monumental regardless. If the US had that mentality then they wouldn't have launched satellites since the Russians did it first.
Oh, I don't know why you removed your comment. Anyways, I was only talking about MANNED space exploration. Satellites don't require people to put into orbit. And yes, I agree with you. We should keep researching and maybe we'll see a breakthrough. But the Moon, Mars, etc are not being colonized because 1) There's no resources worth taking from them and 2) Life in outer space is hard to maintain for long periods of time. Humans couldn't survive for long on the Moon or Mars.
As of now, it is useless. We can't even colonize the moon, much less anything in our solar system. We haven't discovered anything remotely close to us that's habitable or worth colonizing. Even, it faster-than-light travel was possible (which it may be in the future), it would still take hundreds if not thousands of years to arrive. That's assuming 1) Light-travel is possible 2) There's a habitable planet nearby 3) The mission is successful 4) Life can be sustained aboard the spacecraft etc. etc
How am I disrespecting them? I want to spare people's lives by not doing pointless science experiments in space. Why haven't we gone back to the moon since 1972? Because we know it's pointless. Finding the effects of zero-gravity on plants and organs is pointless. NASA's manned mission program has resulted in virtually nothing but wasted time, money, and resources. Humans are not going to be travelling to other galaxies anytime soon so as of now, there's no reason to go into space.
It's worth a turkey sandwich,to put people's lives in danger;these kinds of events are the things I like to see,I know that sounds horrible.I simply love watching human history(with fuck ups).
People mourned because it was an American failure....had this been a failure for some other country....They would have been laughing and boasting that American technology cannot be matched....Capitalism has truly conqured the world...
