In these excerpts from one of his early interviews, Rush reveals how the talk radio sausage is made. Like any form of entertainment, the primary goal is to capture the attention of the audience and compel them to keep listening. Rush is remarkably candid in describing his attitude toward his performance and the importance of caller screening.

Back in the days when Limbaugh sounded good and tight. Now he sounds like a parody of his former self.

So he's basically admitting that his whole show is just an act. He even implies towards the end that he doesn't believe in what he says. I don't really have that big of a problem with an entertainer misleading the populace. The problem is that the shit he spews incites hatred and has actual political influence.

Remember, half the population have an IQ below 100, but everybody feels their above average. And Rush is making millions off of these two points.

Ah, it is wise for one to rely on "google" as one's sole source of research.

Anyone who calls into a talk radio is a loser from step one.

The Founding Fathers were liberal in the classic sense of the word, which is essentially modern day libertarianism which is on the rise.

speaking of embarassing oneself, I think you meant "His audience isn't intelligent people..."

@BlueRonin44: You're right, his job is to keep fools tuning in. His audience aren't intelligent people, which is why the formula largely only works with right-wingers: they're gullible enough to tune in to have their cynical views reinforced. Liberals don't understand capitalism? Capitalism IS a liberal form of economy. Google Free Market. Some research might prevent you from embarrassing yourself again. What you think you know about liberalism sounds like what Limbaugh told you to think.
