ISO stand for " International Standards Organization " and simply is the name of the organization that sets the standard for the sensitivity of film ( this was formed before digital). This was done to make sure consumers the world over where experiencing the same results from film made from one country to the next. The sensitivity rating still apply to todays digital image sensors. I hope this helps. Peace
