Yea use rubbing alcohol heat the mother board to and the CPU and GPU let sit for 15 to 20 minutes and apply the new thermal compound. You got it man

I have a question.. So you use Rubbing Alcohol to remove the old Thermal Compound, Then you use heat gun for 2 minutes then you let it sit for 20ms then apply new Thermal?

not successfully. my ps3 is still out of commission...power supply is dead and needs to be replaced before I bother with the reflow, but I have a heatgun and intend to use it to reflow the ps3 when the time comes. I picked mine up @ harbor freight (if you have one in your area) for $10 and it has done many xbox's at this point successfully, I'm happy to say and feel confident it will revive my ps3 as well. msg me if ya want and I'll let you know how it goes when I can afford the parts & do it

I got the YLOD yesterday. I looked at many Youtube videos and followed the directions. They were all unsuccessful. I followed these directions and I am extremely happy to say that my PS3 is alive again. Thank you very much for making this video. now i can get back to playing Skyrim and Mass Effect 3.
