ya in terms of skin tones plasma's are superior. Energy Consumption wise there isn't really that much of a difference. The Max power consumption of a sony LCD 40" was around 140 watts vs a similar Sony LCD/LED tv of having a max power consumption of 110watts only a 20% difference. If you watch tv 4 hours a day for a whole month you would have a difference of 56 cents on your bill...
While I used to firmly agree that Plasma was the way to go, because of the drop of their support by so many major manufacturers, and the fact that more R&D is spent on advancing LCD (and LED) screens, and developing OLED technology for the mass market, the quality of Plasma screens is now easily matched and sometimes surpassed by the quality of LCD screens, coupled with lower electricity usage. Today's Plasma's are awesome, but are no longer the top dog.
