A little bit longer and higher quality version (than present here) of one of the freakest inventions of contemporary music legend. Downloadable at http://www.oenm.at/stadlerweb/images/mp3/Heli4tett.avi
sorry. if you use the expression 'artsy-fartsy', it is difficult to reply.
[Don't use that expression again; it demeans you.]
Well, Stockhausen's works, are generally concerned with the interplay of musical composition and the "music" or noise of everyday life and of nature.
I am not a fan of Stockhausen. Maybe one day. But have you never simply listened to the approaching noise of an airplane somewhere over-head? It has drama, it has decibel power. It has human content and context.
Hi guys, we should not argue "if this is music or not", music cannot be defined.
The fact is Stockhausen is one of the most important and controversial composers of the 20th and early 21st centuries. We should respect his ideas. Fact!!!
I'm working on a string quartet. If anyone is interested, please listen the work in my channel, I would appreciate your opinion. Thanks!
I'm enjoying this as well. The pieces I enjoy are pieces that accurately emulate my emotions, that means I like works from all over. My goals with my own work is to take an emotion and ask myself "how do I make people understand that emotion?" It's one thing to hear a piece and say, "He's sad his wife died"... it's quite another to have the audience say "I feel like my wife died." That's why I like these late avant-garde guys. They force me to empathize which is at the core of being human.
I think of good music as either a realization or a reflection of an emotion. There are people who may relate directly with this piece because it could be a reflection of their own feelings. To say that Stock's message is invalid also says that those people's feelings are likewise unjustified. The 911 thing would indeed by artistic. In poor taste, yes, but art nonetheless. There are some who are offended by nude art too. But, think of Threnody by Penderecki. Gruesome piece yet effective.
