Goalkeeping is one of the hardest positions to play on the soccer pitch. Try stopping a 80 mph shot when you have to dive 12 feet across the goal and hold on to the ball, or catching a cross when every other player is trying to elbow you in the face. It takes some of the most talented athletes to do what goalkeepers do. Athletic talent is not all though, the ability to play well under pressure is a must. Field players make mistakes multiple times in a game, however, if a goalkeeper makes a mistake the ball ends up in the back of the net. Goalkeepers train as hard or harder then any field player for little or no glory. Think about it: goalkeepers hardly ever get the glory for wins, only the blame for losses. So next time do us goalkeepers a favor and don't blame the loss solely on us and maybe even give us a little credit if we help in a win.
