I love Shel's work. His death was as devestating to me as Jim Henson's. He wrote children's stories. But he was an adult. He knew how to appeal to adults both by relating to them and reminding them of their childhood.

I read his stories as a child. I've read/heard other things as I got older. Shel was a jester who appealed to all ages.

His private life was just that; private. I respect that but... I wish he had lived in MY neighborhood.
