    You would be surprised to know two of the cultures you mention believed the world was indeed flat. The Greeks did wise up early on, but they also thought it was flat until the classical period. Some Sumerian tablets reveal they thought the world to be spherical. Also, the idiotic notion of flat Earth held in Europe by the religious theocracy until Columbus made his legendary voyage.
