    You'll have to dice the butter and rub it in as you traditionally would. Thumb against your index and middle finger until it resembles bread crumbs.

    This crust recipe is amazing... I made it and it turns out wonderful. I used "my favorite apple pie recipe - caramel apple pie" also from foodwishes, wich is great and easy to make . It's the best apple pie I've ever made.

    keep adding ice cold water 1 or 1/2 tbsp at a time time the dryness goes away. don't add too much, though, or dough will be tough.

    Have to say I was kind of surprised (with all respects to chef john) about the machine. Don't think I have ever, at home, work, or otherwise used a machine to mix my dough. It seems to work but I think it may have been a better idea to make a video without the machine, simply because a) tradition is cool and b) for those who don't have such a toy.

    1. wasn't complaining 2. I was helping someone who doesn't own the machine. 2 3. The texture is different when using machine vs hand. You get more uneven lumps of butter = flakier crust. 4. No one was talking to you
