Animal Programs Cast Members move a sick fish from a display at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park. Opened in 1998, Disney's Animal Kingdom is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. It is home to more than 1000 animals representing more than 200 species. When animals become ill or injured, they are cared for in a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital on the premises. Walt Disney World Animal Programs also cares for many species of fish and sharks, dolphins, manatees, and sea turtles at facilites at Epcot and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park.
