    Not to say the idea wouldn't work, but the city would need a heck of a lot more notice than AFTER CHRISTMAS already! It takes months for them to prepare a new ball, and probably costs more than a million. Additionally, the ball just underwent an expensive makeover to make the lights more energy efficient. A better idea would have been to offer to pay for the ball's alteration PLUS the million bucks to charity. Just a thought if anyone's reading...
