In May 2000, The Economist magazine featured Africa on its cover as "the hopeless continent". Citing wars across the continent, famine in Ethiopia, floods in Mozambique and lawlessness in Zimbabwe, but particularly the failures of its leaders, the report kicked up a storm as many experts from the continent protested at the tag so did the economist portray the true picture of Africa ?
