Clementi Sonatina Playlist!!
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=CA0B4832E7D11E11
This is probably the most famous classical piano work that virtually every student eventually plays and every piano teacher teaches. I already posted the first two Sonatinas in this set and the first movement in this one is when the Clementi Sonatinas start to get more difficult.
Clementi intentionally made each Sonatina progressively more difficult so that there is a huge difference between nos. 1 and 6 in terms of technical difficulties and overall length. However, they are all full of delightful music regardless of whether something is "easy" or "difficult". I have learned not to think this way any longer. Music is just "good" or "bad" or perhaps "could use some improvement".
I particularly love the second movement in this sonatina, since it offers probably the most music with the fewest notes in the entire piano literature. It is technically "easy", in fact the easiest of all movements of all the sonatinas. Yet, it is this slow movement, not the faster outer movements, that presents the true test of musical maturity. Forget about the fast movements, find a seven-year-old who plays the second movement well and you have found a prodigy.
