No mistakes, but although it is true that the tempo is marked "as written," traditionally it is not played that way. The waltz should be free. it should not feel like a bach invention or prelude. rubato is a must, however it must be done right. This waltz is so overplayed that it really takes work for it to sound respectible. The speed is also missing in those arpegio passages that come after the theme. Finally, where is the DYNAMICS?? the notes are down, just style must be added.

I cannot thank you enough for this. I have been searching for a long time for a recording of this piece that reminds me of the way my mother used to play it -- of course your interpretation is not exactly the same, but what I mean is that you have in common a respect for the beauty and passion of this amazing piece of music. You make it a deep and unforgettable experience that I'm sure I will come back to and listen again many, many times. Thank you so much.

My personal prefence is for an interpretation with more rubato and lilt but I certainly respect your conceptionof this work, Cory.

Lovely interpretation. I like that you don't forget this waltz is a waltz and play it in a a way that is actually dancable.

Thank you very much! Your version renewed this waltz, made it fresh and spiritual. It makes me cry. But the most interesting thing of you - your thinking, experimenting. You really communicate with pieces, not just play them. We begin to think too!!

One of the reasons I changed this waltz so quickly is that the three sections offer many possibilities in tempo relationships and it was like putting together a puzzle. This is not the case with a piece with only one tempo where you only have one decision to make.
