    "manual transmission is generally simpler and has fuer parts to fail" No manuals are more prone to failure due user error. In alot of cases manuals have just as many parts if not more (this also depends on if the automatic is pressure controlled or solenoid controlled and the number of speeds). Look at a clutch vs Torque converter for example. A torque converter generally only has two moving parts. a Clutch on the other hand had around fifty moving parts.

    hello got a ? i have a 1982 coupe deville.that makes a whistling noise in first gear only.and when i stop do you think it's the transmission? thanks please help....

    on a 1998,v6 w/air, ford explore 4.0. now we flushed it, gave it new screen and fluid. the old fluid had a light goldesh stream in it. would the solenoid be inside the housing?

    the solenoid is dirty or gone. flush the fluid and clean or replace the solenoid.
